People say that saying “I wish" is a bad statement for the mind. I don’t know if it is a bad or good statement, but it indicates something good about you. It means that you see the alternative paths, even if it is too late to see them. It means that you can make a healthy analysis about wtf just happened with your life. On the other hand, it also reminds you not to repeat the same mistakes. There is always another path.

The path I followed dragged me somewhere where it showed me there isn’t any meaning, there is…

A Self-supervised learning algorithm that uses summation and difference of embedding vectors

Introduction

Self-supervised learning is the learning method for Deep Learning models that tries to capture meaningful features without the supervision of humans that force the model to map input data to specific labels. There are several self-supervised learning methods that are mentioned in 10L — Self-supervised learning in computer vision.

In this article, I share one method that I made (as far as I know).

Proposed Method

The proposed method uses the vector sum logic that is told in the Future Research Section of VeriMedi: Pill Identification using Proxybased Deep Metric Learning and Exact Solution.

This article is about Consciousness, Questioning, Existence, and Its Crisis

I am 26 years old, living in Riga. Most of my friends here are around 28–33 years old. I started recognizing a pattern in their lives and psychologies. They all are facing existential crises. They all ask the question “What am I supposed to do, what is the meaning of all these, man?”. Some people get to this point naturally, some of them get to this point with external triggers. I am going to talk about these and relate this existential crisis to consciousness.

How does it start?

Firstly, let’s think about a man…

Humans as pattern machines

Imagine yourself discussing with someone. Have you ever just stopped at that moment and thought “What am I talking about?”. Sometimes we get into the discussions so deep that all that conversation continues intuitively. It is like we lose our consciousness and the conversation just flows by itself. Agreements and disagreements in the conversation feel like perfectly matching patterns. We disagree with a specific perspective on a specific subject just because we always disagree with that subject unless we changed it in a previous discussion. Agreements like “Yeah, yeah, you are right” happens so automatically that even though there is…

Just an idea about what is consciousness. A thought experiment.

Consciousness is not being aware of yourself. It is the skill of distinguishing things.

So, if you claim that “You are aware of yourself, therefore you are conscious” is not totally wrong. But, awareness itself does not explain consciousness solely. Because it is not only distinguishing yourself from all other people, animals, natural phenomena, and entities. It is also the action of distinguishment of everything else from each other.

For example:

When we wake up in the morning, for the purpose of going to our job, we are not aware…

You will just witness the first moments of the universe, a bunch of tick-tocks with different frequencies, the first information pieces.

Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tick, …

Tick, tick, tock, tock, tick, tick, …

Tick, tick, tick, tick, tock, tock, …

Millions and billions and trillions of years ago, there was nothing. There wasn’t time, there wasn’t a movement, there wasn’t any information and there wasn’t any material. There was only a reason to start everything, which became impossible to know after everything started. It was just a game that had a reason to play. …

An unusual perspective to explain life

It was only 10 seconds left, the clock was ticking. There was only one chance for the boy and the girl. They would either press the button and let their legacy be remembered, or they would press the button and nobody would know about their civilization. They figured out that there wasn’t infinite life in this universe. It was possible to be immortal only by transmitting their information, by telling their story. They knew that the information was best told if it was structured in a model, where the small, medium, and big fractions…

Since I found out that our universe is just an information machine that produces different and unique information all the time, I regret nothing. I experience everything, some of them are the things that I can’t tell in public, some of them are the things that I can’t tell my closest. In addition to that, I stopped judging people, I stopped judging what they do, what they experience, and what do they decide. If we make an analogy from this, I accepted life as a river with a strong flow. Instead of being a leaf that follows the river, I…

I have been watching Person of Interest in some websites. I recognized an issue with the ads in this website. The ads are just random videos. They advertise literally nothing. And, somebody is paying to this website for these ads. But why do they pay if the ad does not advertise something? That smells illegal to me. Imagine, you need to make a payment to someone. Let’s say that you are going to pay for a big pile of drug or gun or whatever other illegal trading item. Well, you can’t just write a bill as "drugs: 100k $". You…
